What has shaped my interest in leadership and the design of the ‘Leadership Arena’ program?

Over the past 20+ years working in Organizational Development, and Change Management, I have helped hundreds of leaders to enhance their self-leadership and leadership of others.

Coaching and working in many organisations, I have seen firsthand the benefits of effective leadership and that of leadership development, as well as the negative impacts of poor leadership.

My experience in leadership development grew exponentially when I was leading an initiative at the University of Auckland to develop and implement a Leadership Framework.

This was to guide the behaviours of both academic and professional staff of over 6,000 full time equivalent staff.

This initiative involved looking at what was happening with leadership development in forty-one top universities internationally. In addition, I reviewed what the key players in leadership were saying and doing in the leadership space – and continue to do so.

For example, the Centre of Creative Leadership; Zenger and Folkman; Development Dimensions International; INSEAD and so on.

 

From there, I was responsible for the design and delivery of nine leadership programs and the annual staff capability development program with approximately 200 workshops per year.

My role at the university included the development and support of Academic Heads/Chairs – specially to prepare them to step up and lead multi-million dollar departments/schools with hundreds of staff.

In recent years, I also contract to Prosci-ANZ as a Master Instructor and Senior Change Advisor. I facilitate the range of Prosci programs in New Zealand and Australia, including the internationally recognized three-day Change Management Practitioners Program.

Business leaders that employ less than 300 hundred staff comprise over 90% of businesses in most countries. Leaders of these businesses often do not have access to an aligned and integrated approach to their leadership development!

This 12-week online self-paced program is designed for leaders from existing businesses (with a minimum of 10 employees) to enhance the way you think and perform as a leader. Envision a better future for yourself and the business as you will:

  • Apply a Leadership Practices Framework to guide your leadership actions.

The seven online Modules build on each other, and contain pragmatic, practical learning activities for you to apply to your business and personal life.

These modules will be released at specific intervals so that you have time to apply them in the business, and you do not feel overwhelmed.

The two-weekly peer group coaching calls (90 minutes) will provide a safe and supportive place to explore your thinking and behaviours so that your future actions reflect your strategic intent for your business and personal life.

NOTE: The Leadership Arena is only open for new registrations twice per year.

This program is not for everyone! There are three things you will need to succeed in this program:

  1.  Courage: To step forward to reflect on where you are and where you would like to be
  1. Commitment: To think, behave and work differently
  1. Capacity: To make the time to reflect, learn and refocus your leadership practices for at least two hours every week for 12 weeks.

 

As the program content is about applying practices to enhance your current leadership, it is not suitable for aspiring managers.

The Leadership Arena is designed for business leaders who have a minimum of five years leadership experience and ten employees or more.

Participants could be business owners or leaders within an organization. You will join other business leaders who share the same intention to be a more effective leader and make a greater positive impact on those around them.
